A reunion with HMS CAVALIER took place over the w/e 22 – 24 November 2024 at the 4* Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel and the formation of the joint HMS CAVALIER and HMS CARYSFORT ASSOCIATION was formally agreed unanimously at the AGM held on Sunday 24th November.
HMS Carysfort’s Standard was blest in Chatham Dockyard Church by The Very Rev’d Dr Phillip Hesketh AKC DL then Admiral Sir Trevor Soar KCB OBE DL who gallantly took over the service when the Rev’d became unwell. The 80th anniversary of the launch of HMS CAVALIER and the 40th anniversary of Chatham Historic Dockyard attended by many local dignitaries was also celebrated with a traditional tot time.
The march past by veterans had to be cancelled owing to inclement weather but the Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets valiantly carried on. BZ to them for a magnificent effort. Admiral Soar and Vice Admiral Sir Jeremy Blackham KCB President of the joint association took the salute.
